Jo Ann Sabbagh is a life-time Republican. She relocated to Tucson, AZ from Toledo, OH in August 1997.

While Jo Ann has been working in public accounting for more than 30 years, she started her own public accounting firm in February 2004. In addition, she became a national Professional Speaker for CheckPoint Learning (formerly Gear Up Seminars), a Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting subsidiary from May 2009 through January 2016.

Jo Ann has been active with the Republican party while in Arizona serving as Campaign Committee Treasurer for more than 17 years for candidates ranging from the Arizona Legislature and Arizona Corporation Commission to the United States Congress.

Jo Ann is a Past-President of the Arizona Association of Accounting & Tax Professionals (formerly Arizona Society of Practicing Accountants), and Past-Governance Chair of the National Society of Practicing Accountants. She is currently serving as the Vice President of the Southern Arizona Chapter Enrolled Agents.


Jo Ann has voluntarily participated in many community events and non-profit fundraisers. Currently, she is serving on the Board of Directors for the Fox Tucson Theatre. Jo Ann also serves as a mentor and instructor with Start Up Tucson. She participates in the annual TUSD (Tucson Unified School District) Love of Reading Program, a week long program designed to encourage K-12 students to read by inviting local celebrities and business owners to read to classrooms.

Jo Ann continues to be involved in the betterment and education of her profession. Since September 1997, she had been actively involved in serving as an active member of various tax and accounting professional organizations. She has served on their Board of Directors and held officer positions since May 1998. As a retired national continuing education speaker, she brings her skills as an educator to her colleagues through local organizations. Most recently, Jo Ann has been admitted to serve on the Pima Associations of Government Regional Transit Authority Citizens Advisory Committee (PAG/RTA/CAC).

In the past, she has served as the Governor’s appointee to the State of Arizona Real Estate Advisory Board and as NFIB’s appointee (National Federation of Independent Businesses) to the Arizona Department of Economic Security discussion panel.


Sabbagh Tax & Accounting, LLC has given Jo Ann the unique experience of working heavily with small local and regional businesses as well as being a business owner herself. Public accounting is not only about working with clients to assure tax compliance, but to assist them with making prudent financial decisions. Jo Ann’s experience in working with taxpayers and small business owners has led her to become an advocate while representing them before the City of Tucson, the Arizona Department of Revenue and the Internal Revenue Service. She comprehends complex tax law and understands how taxing authorities work. This point of view makes her standout from other candidates for the position of Arizona Treasurer.


Jo Ann earned her Bachelor’s Degree through the University of Toledo’s (Ohio) College of Business Administration (B.B.A.) majoring in Accounting.

She has earned the Federal License of Enrolled Agent issued by the Internal Revenue Service demonstrating her knowledge of income tax and accounting.
